Krewe of Peacock

The Krewe of Peacock (Newchannel 5) was established by KALB-TV and has nested at the same site since 1995. The name "Peacock" represents NewsChannel 5's affiliation with NBC.

The purpose of the Krewe is to further extend our involvement within the community and continue to be "ON YOUR SIDE".

In addition to participating in the parade, NewsChannel 5 broadcasts both the Krewe and Children's parades via television. NewsChannel 5 also has a Mardi Gras theme for the entire week before Mardi Gras.

The Krewe of Peacock has also sponsored 3 of the Grand Marshal's for the AMGA Krewe Parades. We hosted Martha Angelo, Sydnie Kohara and Art Ginsburg "Mr. Food".

Out of our flock of 70 will be 12 birds "struting their stuff" on the peacock float in the krewe parade.
