Platform Objectives: Building leadership skills
through volunteerism is an issue dear to my heart. My
main objective is implementing my platform is to lead
by example in our community, state and nation. By sharing
my experiences with young people, and the benefits that
I have received by volunteering, I believe that I can
continue the cycle of educating our youth to participate
in some type of volunteer activity. The greatest benefit
of participating in volunteerism or mentoring is that
when these skills are combined with a quality classroom
education, it results in adults who are great leaders,
great parents, and upstanding members of the community.
Involvement: Red Cross volunteer, Students in youth
in Government; Astra Club; Interest Club; Youth Volunteer
Corp; Habitat for Humanity
Marketing Plan: My plan is to make appearances
and presentations in schools to encourage young people
to start volunteering in whatever way they would most
enjoy. During these presentations I would explain to them
that the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Organization
is just one type of volunteer effort that has resulted
in great things and exactly what benefits I have received
from my participation in the organization.
Legacy: At the end of my year of service as Miss
Louisiana 's Outstanding Teen, I know that I will have
convinced many young people across the country to volunteer
in one way or another. I will also have the peace of mind
that I have contributed to developing the community leaders
of the future.
