Outstanding Teen 2011
Justine Ker is the daughter of Jenevieve and Jun-Ing
Ker of Choudrant, LA. She currently attends Cedar Creek
School with a 4.0 GPA and is a part of the Class of 2012.
Justine will begin her senior year as Student Council
Vice-President, Key Club President, National Honor Society
Vice-President, and Cedar Creek Cheerleader. She is also
the recipient of many regional and state-wide awards in
Solo Festival and LMTA Music Rally (eleven-time winner),
State Science & Engineering Fair (one-time State Overall
Winner, one-time 2nd place winner), State Social Studies
Fair (two-time 1st place winner, one-time 2nd place winner),
and State Literary Rally (1st place Algebra I &
II, 2nd place Advanced Math).
In the past, Justine has volunteered her time to the Northern
Louisiana Medical Center, Special Olympics, and she has
performed as a pianist at the Lincoln Parish Events Center
and as a former 1st violinist in the Monroe Youth Symphony
Orchestra. Her scholastic ambition is to obtain a Ph.D.
in Neurology and to become a neurologist, although her
secret dream is to become a world-renowned concert musician.
As Miss Louisianas Outstanding Teen 2011, Justine
seeks to promote her platform Lifting Hazards: Backpack
Awareness, which emphasizes the importance of protecting
ones back through good posture and stature, especially
in students who tend to carry exceedingly heavy backpacks
which can increase the chances of having mental and physical
damage to oneself as an adult.
Although she participates in many activities, Justine
always finds time to relax and spend with her friends
and family, as well as travel around the worldher
favorite hobby. Justine recently qualified to enter the
National Merit Scholarship competition for 2012, as well.
